28 Apr 2022 Richmond, VA On James Monroe's 264th Birthday, the James Monroe Memorial Foundation followed the Presidential Wreath Presentation Ceremony with a ceremony to further honor James Monroe. The CMM wreath was presented by Registrar Bill Schwetke. Other CMM participants included Northern Region Chairman Dale Corey (dual), Mike Lyman, and Virginia SAR 3rd VP Mike Weyler (dual).

23 Apr 2022 Culpeper, VA Mountain Run Winery, owned and operated by prospective member David Foster, hosted a Culpeperpaloza this weekend, with over 800 paying attendees. Due largly to the efforts of Honorary President Charles Jameson, we had a table with wonderful dispays that attracted much interest and at least two more prospective members. The CMM presented the colors, gave a talk on the SAR from the bandstand during the festivities, and fired musket volleys. Cat Schwetke also participated, manning the table while the Color Guard was performing, and taking pictures. CMM participants were President Tom Hamill, Honorary President Charles Jameson, Bill Schwetke, Northern Region Chairman Dale Corey (dual) and Sean Carrigan (dual). 23 Apr 2022 Colonial Beach, VA The James Monroe Memorial Foundation hosted a celebration of James Monroe's birthday at his birthplace that was attended by many lineage organizations, historical organizations, and local dignitaries. Well over 100 people attended. President Bruce Meyer represented the Virginia SAR and President Tom Hamill represented the CMM. CMM participants included President Tom Hamill, Mike Lyman and Bill Schwetke. President Hamill presented the chapter wreath and all three marched in the Color Guard.
13 Apr 2022 Washington, DC In celebration of Thomas Jefferson's 279th Birthday, the DC SAR hosted a ceremony at the Thomas Jefferson Memorial in the Tidal Basin of Washington, DC. The CMM were represented at the ceremony by Bill Schwetke and dual member Dale Corey, who acted as escorts for Virginia SAR President Bruce Meyer. Other participants included the Maryland SAR, the Department of the Interior, represented by the National Park Service, University of Virginia, the Thomas Jefferson Foundation, the General Society of the War of 1812. The DC DAR, the National Society of the C.A.R., the Descendants of the Signers of the Declaration of Independence, the Monticello Association, the Children of the American Colonies, the Hereditary order of the Families of Presidents & First Ladies of America, the Descendants of American Farmers, and the Thomas Jefferson Heritage Society.
The program opened with the presentation of the colors by the Joint Armed Forces Color Guard, with the National Anthem provided by "The President's Own U.S. Marine Band Brass Quintet". Wreaths were presented by all of the major participants. 12 Apr 2022 Halifax, NC On April 12, 1776, the Fourth Provincial Congress of North Carolina, meeting in Halifax, unanimously adopted the resolves, authorizing the North Carolina delegates to the Continental Congress to encourage independence. The Halifax Resolves Chapter of the North Carolina SAR hosted an SAR national event noting this anniversary. President Bruce Meyer represented the Virginia SAR, and Chapter Registrar Bill Schwetke represented the CMM. Bill presented the chapter wreath, escorted President Meyer for his wreath presentation, and carried the Commonwealth of Virginia flag in the Color Guard. 10 Apr 2022 Lovettsville, VA Today three chapters, The Fairfax Resolves Chapter, the SGM John Champe Chapter, and the SGT Lawrence Everhart Chapter of Maryland, joined to conduct a ceremony to mark the graves of five patriots at the New Jerusalem Lutheran Cemetery in Lovettsville, VA. The CMM was represented by Registrar Bill Schwetke. Wreaths and greetings were presented by Virginia SAR President Bruce Meyer, Maryland SAR President Mark Deeds, Virginia DAR State Vice-Regent Laurie Nesbitt, Virginia SAR President Sara Cox, and Virginia OFPA Governor Mike Weyler. Six Virginia SAR Chapters, two Maryland SAR Chapters, Nine DAR Chapters, and two Virginia C.A.R. Chapters presented wreaths. Bill also participated in the Color Guard Musket Salute. 9 Apr 2022 Syria, VA On 22 April 1995 the Culpeper Minutemen Chapter invited the Fort Harrison and Thomas Jefferson Chapters to join them in a joint meeting at Graves Mountain Lodge to enjoy lunch and Springtime in the mountains. This has become a tradition every year, except only for 2020, and this Saturday the Culpeper Minutemen Chapter hosted seven other chapters to Graves Mountain Lodge where Virginia SAR President Bruce Meyer was the featured speaker. In all there were attendees from eleven Virginia SAR Chapters, the DAR, the C.A.R. and the Order of Founders and Patriots, for a total of sixty-two attendees. The Culpeper Minutemen Chapter has organized the meeting every year, but, beginning in 2015 the master of ceremonies role has rotated through the chapters. This year it was the Culpeper Minutemen Chapter's turn to provide the master of ceremonies and Chapter President Tom Hamill performed that role.
After lunch, Virginia SAR President Bruce Meyer briefed attendees on the plans for the state society for 2022. At the end of his talk he was informed that his honorarium of $300 would be sent, as he directed to the Virgina SAR First Virginia Regiment for the Flathers May Fund supporting communications. There President Meyer will spread the soil on the mass grave of Virginians buried there.
For this ceremony the Color Guard carried the Betsy Ross Flag, the flag of the Commonwealth of Virginia, and the 3rd Virginia Detachment Flag, under which the Virginians we will honor fought and died. 02 Apr 2022 Millwood, VA John Holker was the French Diplomatic Representative to the United States before France recognized our country, He had been born in England, and was active in the French textile industry. He and his father helped the American commissioners in Paris obtain military clothing and other supplies. The Col James Wood II Chapter marked his grave in a ceremony that included the a representative of the NSSAR, Virginia SAR, French SAR, Virginia DAR, Virginia C.AR., OFPA, and the French military. 02 Apr 2022 Warrenton, VA The Fauquier Court House Chapter of the DAR celebrated their 40th Anniversary today and installed their officers for 2022-2025. The CMM was represented by President Tom Hamill, who brought greetings and congratulations, and Bill Schwetke.
