This was attended by many spectators including other guests at Graves Mountain Lodge. 19 Apr 2025 Culpeper, VA Today the CMM put on a program commemorating the events of April 19, 1775 at Lexington, Concord and Menotomy, and of April 20-21, 1775 at Williamsburg at Culpeper Masonic Cemetery. Sixteen SAR, DAR, C.A.R. members and prospective members participated. Tom Hamill was our Master of Ceremonies and the keynote address, focusing on the view of these events from Virginia, was given by Bill Schwetke. The location allowed us to point out the graves of Edward Stevens who led the Culpeper Independent Company in response to the events at Williamsburg and David Jameson who carried the battle flag of the Independent Company. The Colors were presented by coordinated color guards from VFW Post 2524 and the SAR. The SAR Color Guard also fired a musket salute.
15 Apr 2025 Bentonville, VA Bill Schwetke gives part of the presentation on the Battles of Lexington, Concord, and Menotomy at Hidden Springs Senior Living in Bentonville, just south of Front Royal today with members of the Colonel James Wood II Chapter. There were 20 residents that attended the presentation and one resident received a special visit as he was unable to leave his room: 105-year-old Frank Brandon, a WWII glider pilot that participated in the operations in Normandy and in Market Garden (A Bridge too Far). Frank's launch on D-Day was scrubbed at the last minute due to a German Panzer unit occupying his landing zone and then he was shot down in Market Garden and spent the rest of the war in a POW camp.
