At the National Congress Awards Night in Savannah the Culpeper Minutemen Chapter was announced as the best medium-sized (50-99 members) chapter in the National Society of the Sons of the American Revolution for the past year. The chapter has won best chapter for its size in the Virginia Society several times, including the two most recent years, but this is the first time the chapter has been declared the best in the nation. Under the leadership of then president Charles Jameson the chapter excelled and expects to continue being the best under current president Tom Hamill

9 July 2022 Hudgins, VA A hearty group of about 20 SAR, DAR and CAR compatriots braved a driving rainstorm to help commemorate the Battle of Cricket Hill in Hudgins, VA. Many of those present said that the washout of the main event was Lord Dunmore's revenge for the events of July 9, 1776, when Virginia forces under the command of General Andrew Lewis built a battery opposite Gwynn Island and Lord Dunmore's fleet of 82 vessels. The ensuing bombardment drove Dunmore's fleet out of the area and ultimately out of the Chesapeake Bay. The battery created by the Virginia forces still stands along the water's edge and is part of the Morningside Marina - who were happy to help the Richard Henry Lee Chapter host this event. Despite the weather, a much abridged ceremony did occur under the covered porch of the Marina. President Tom Hamill gave greetings from the Chapter, "Presented" the Chapter Wreath and also participated in the Color Guard. Fellow CMM compatriot Mike Lymon was also present. VASSAR President Bruce Meyer cuts the cake celebrating the 132 birthday of the Virginia Society. The birthday celebration immediately followed the Battle of Cricket Hill event.
