22 Aug 2020 Front Royal A true patriot and staunch compatriot has left us. Al White was CMM 2nd Vice President 2005-2007 and the Founding President of the Colonel James Wood II Chapter. Below are more details in a message from CJWII Past President Dale Corey: Compatriots,
It is with heavy heart that I report the passing of compatriot and the Chapter's Founding President, Al White. Al has been undergoing dialysis for the past 6 months for failing kidneys. He has been bedridden since the first of March and last week asked to be removed from the dialysis. He made peace with himself and was ready to go. Al was born 22 January 1927 in Roanoke, Virginia. He served in World War II in Okinawa and in Korea. He had a long distinguished career in education and eventually opened the Glen Manor Winery. He joined the SAR in 2003 and was asked to be the Founding President of a new chapter to be formed in the northern Shenandoah Valley.. In November 2007, the Colonel James Wood II Chapter was chartered under his guidance. Due to the pandemic restrictions, there will be a family only graveside service with the VFW performing military honors and the CJWII Chapter having a small presence (this was at Al's request). The Chapter will be represented by 5 colonial attired compatriots holding the SAR and our Chapter flags in honor of Al. Next year on the one year anniversary of his death (22 Aug 2021), there will be a full funeral service conducted with the SAR presenting the compatriot grave marking ceremony. Asking all to take a moment of silence and prayer for Al and his family. 08 Aug 2020 ZOOM The annual meeting of the Mid-Atlantic District and North Atlantic District is combined as the Atlantic Middle States Association (AMSA). This year the meeting was planned to be hosted by the DC Society at the Cosmos Club in Washington, DC. Pandemic restrictions moved the meeting to ZOOM, where the meeting was co-hosted by Mid-Atlantic VPG Ernie Sutton (PA) and North Atlantic VPG Peter Goebel (NY). Both VPGs are serving consecutive second terms as the cancellation of Congress did not allow for election of new officers at the national level. The ZOOM Meeting went very well. It was set up jointly by the DC Society and AMSA Secretary Lou Raborg. A highlight of the meeting was presentations by aspiring new national leaders and an online vote to endorse a slate of candidates for national offices. Those endorsed by the AMSA included: AMSA ENDORSED CANDIDATES
