11 Sep 2022 Culpeper, VA Today, as the rain came down, the community of Culpeper, supported by four Virginia SAR Chapters, came together to remember and honor those who lost their lives on the 9th of September 2001. In addition to the eleven SAR Color Guardsmen, participants included the VFW, American Legion, Bugles Across America, Heritage Girls, Culpeper Volunteer Fire Department, Culpeper Police Department, and the Culpeper Sheriff's Office. The eleven Virginia SAR participants were from the Culpeper Minutemen, Colonel James Wood II, Fairfax Resolves, and Sergeant Major John Champe Chapters.

10 Sep 2022 Old Town Alexandria, VA Compatriot Jack Sweeney of the Fairfax Resolves Chapter passed away on August 23rd and his funeral was conducted today in Alexandria. At the request of the family, the SAR Color Guard presented the colors as part of the ceremony. Bill Schwetke of the CMM commanded the Color Guard.
Jack was very active at the state and national levels of the SAR. He served many years as the Virginia SAR State Registrar and was a good friend of the CMM. His internment will be at a later date at Arlington National Cemetery. From January 2022 through December 2025 Patriot Birthdays will be only for known members of the 1775-1776 Culpeper Minute-men.
