18 Oct 2024 Yorktown, VA A reenactment celebration of Lafeyette's farewell visit to Yorktown was held on the 200th anniversary of the event. A large crowd gathered to meet Lafayette, portrayed by Mike Snyder, and the SAR presented the colors and fired a 13 shot feu de joyie in his honor. Bill Schwetke marched with the Color Guard, carry8ing the French Flag, and fired in the musket salute.

10 Oct 2024 Point Pleasant, WV The 250th Anniversary of the Battle of Point Pleasant was marked in a ceremony at Tu-Endie-Wei State Park in Point Pleasant, WV, at the confluence of the Kanawha and Ohio Rivers. This battle is believed by some to be the first battle of the American Revolution and is recognized as such by the SAR. There was a great crowd of over 300 people. The CMM was represented by Bill Schwetke, who presented the Virginia SAR and CMM Chapter wreaths, and two dual members, Vann Cunningham and Pat Kelly. All CMM attendees participated in the Color Guard and Bill Schwetke participated in the musket volleys.
4-5 Oct 2024 Louisville, KY The 2024 Fall Leadership Meeting of the National SAR was held this weekend at the Galt House Hotel in Louisville, KY. The CMM was represented by Bill Schwetke. The most important business was the approval of a more austere budget for 2025 and a plan to gain more solid financial footing for the next five years. Also Texas was announced as the host for the 2029 Congress (next year is Uncassville, CT, followed by Greenville, NC, New Orleans, LA, and Ohio). Expect the location in Texas to be chosen in two years. The 2025 Spring Leadership will be held 28 Feb - 01 Mar at the Galt House in Louisville.
