Even during a pandemic the past year has been another good year for the Chapter, and I thank all of you for all you have done. We now have a fresh new year to plan and our Board of Managers Meeting ( any member can attend) will meet on Sat. Jan. 8, 2022 at Glory Days Grill in Culpeper 12:30pm for lunch and planning our future events. We have a continuance of great officer representation with the induction by VASSAR President Jeff Thomas planned for Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2022 at O’Briens in Warrenton at 6PM. I feel we had a great year, but am disappointed in what we left on the table with our education outreach. It has been difficult getting into our schools with current conditions, but I feel like we are letting our youth down with all the programs and scholarships the SAR has to offer. This is just one committee I feel with which we could use some help. There are needs in the Graves Committee, Veterans Committee, 4th of July Festivities Committee (Patriotic Presentation with Culpeper Town and County) and, of course, our youth programs. If you would like to help in any of these areas please let us know.
The Culpeper Minutemen Chapter is honored to be a partner with the Battle of Great Bridge Foundation and the Norfolk Chapter in the nationally recognized Battle of Great Bridge Event. The Culpeper Minutemen Muster is now recognized as a state event. These events will be coming up on their 250th anniversary in October and December of 2025. We hope to gather ANCESTORS of these Minutemen to return to one or both of these events in 2025. I ask all members to be responsive to these events and to assist in furthering the knowledge of these events to those concerned. Thank you and a happy, prosperous year to all.
