We have a very active month ahead of us. Our Monthly Chapter Meeting will be held at Little Fork Episcopal Church in Rixeyville, in their Fellowship Hall. This historic church, built in the 1773-1776, and source of many of the original Culpeper Minutemen, has allowed us to use their building for no charge. Maegan, who provided the meals at Prince Michel, will cater the meal and use the kitchen at the church. Though the church has asked nothing for the use of their building, I plan to pass the hat at our meeting for donations to their fund to maintain this old and historic building - the roof is in need of repair now. An even better way to help them would be to make your donation online tomorrow, May 3rd, at:
www.givelocalpiedmont.org
to "Little Fork Preservation Foundation"
May 3rd only your donation at that site will receive matching dollars!
Over the next two weeks we will present awards at all four of our local JROTC units. These awards ceremonies are great events, and a wonderful opportunity to see the best of the youth of our five counties. Check the calendar and plan to attend one or more of these events if you want to be uplifted. At Liberty High School on the 11th we will present Cadet William Grimsley a medal as the Virginia SAR Outstanding JROTC Cadet for 2015, including a check from our state society for $1,000 - that would be a good one to attend!
Memorial Day we will support the ceremony at Culpeper National Cemetery with our Color Guard. If you are interested in participating in our Color Guard now would be a good time to make some more progress on acquiring uniform parts. Lon Lacey has several peices available, and the prospect of more in the near future from Paul Bess' uniforms.
Expect another reminder tomorrow, May 3rd, about the donations to the Little Fork Preservation Foundation.
Your Servant,
Bill
