21 Nov 2023 Bentonville, VA Today Bill Schwetke joined three members of the Col James Wood II Chapter in making a presentation on Key Moments in the American Revolution to twenty members of the Hidden Springs Senior Living Community in Bentonville. These presentations are made monthly at Hidden Springs.

11 Nov 2023 Culpeper, VA The CMM Color Guard and the VFW Post 2524 Color Guard both presented colors at the ceremony at Culpeper National Cemetery today. A great crowd of over 200 enjoyed the beautiful weather and a patriotic salute to veterans. The keynote speaker was Delegate Nick Freitas. CMM participants included Mark Crain, Michael Dennis, Charles Jameson, and Bill Schwetke.

25 Oct 2023 Newport News, VA Myron E. "Mike" Lyman, a member of the Culpeper Minutemen Chapter since 1998 and Chapter President 2001-2003 passed away at 5:30 pm this afternoon. He had suffered a severe stroke last Thursday while participating in the commemoration at Yorktown. Mike is best known for his incredible work on Genealogical, Burial, and Service Data for Revolutionary War Patriots Buried in Virginia. He had served the CMM as President, Vice-President, Treasurer, Registrar, and Historian. A Memorial Service for Mike will be held on Saturday, 04 Nov, 11:00 am, at Currie Funeral Home 116 E Church St, Kilmarnock, VA. All members of the Culpeper Minutemen Chapter are encouraged to attend. Myron "Mike" Edwin Lyman, Sr. born May 3, 1931 in Cambridge, NY, passed away peacefully at 92 on October 25, 2023. He was a resident of White Stone for the last 17 years. He is survived by sons Myron, Jr. of Perry, GA., Dwight D. Lyman of Atlanta, GA., and the family of his late son Craig A. Lyman of Bonaire, GA. He has five grandchildren, Kimberly Cummings; Brian A. and Kevin L. Lyman, children of Craig; Halley and Maia, daughters of Dwight Lyman and Laura Ross and six great-grandchildren, Victoria and Kaylie Cummings, Phillip, Juniper and Jude Lyman, and Mason Lyman. He leaves a dear companion, Jean R. Ward, who resides in Maine. Mike received a B.S. in Agriculture at the University of Vermont in 1952. He managed a dairy farm in Vermont and was the main herdsman of a large dairy farm in Florida. Drafted in the Army in 1954, he served in the Infantry for 25 years with tours in Korea, Germany and Vietnam, and is a graduate of the Army's Command and General Staff College. In combat he was a District Advisor in the Military Advisory Group Vietnam. His non-combat tours include being company commander and staff officer in many units and before retiring was the Chief of the Army's Personnel Management Team and Chief of the Records Section, Military Personnel Center. He retired in 1979 with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel with a Regular Army commission. His decorations include the Combat Infantry Badge, Airborne Badge, Legion of Merit, Bronze Star, Meritorious Service Medal, Air Medal, Army Commendation Medal with cluster, Purple Heart with cluster, Vietnam Gallantry Cross with bronze and silver star, and Good conduct Medal and various service medals. Mike was a member of several lineage societies and has been especially active in the Virginia Society Sons of the American Revolution, serving as a chapter president and state burial chairman and editor/compiler of Genealogical, Burial and Service Data for Revolutionary War Patriots Buried in Virginia. While president of the Virginia Society War of 1812, he edited and compiled the book, Burials of War of 1812 Veterans in the Commonwealth of Virginia and was editor/compiler of an addendum to it. He co-edited Encounters With the British in Virginia During the War of 1812. Mike was a past Virginia Governor of the Order of Founders and Patriots in America, a member of The Order of Americans of Armorial Ancestry, The Society of Colonial Wars, The Society of Mayflower Descendants, The society of the Sons and Daughters of the Pilgrims, The Society of Descendants of Colonial Clergy, and The Sons of Union Veterans. On the Northern Neck of Virginia he was an active member of the Richard Henry Lee Chapter SAR, The Mary Ball Washington Museum and Library, and the Northern Neck of Virginia Historical Society. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, November 4, 2023 at Currie Funeral Home in Kilmarnock. In lieu of flowers please make donations to the Northern Neck of Virginia Historical Society, P. O. Box 716, Montross, VA 22520. Mike's Memorial Service was held at Currie Funeral Home, Kilmarnock, VA. The CMM was represented by Honorary President Charles James, Color Guard Commander Michael Dennis, and Registrar Bill Schwetke.
01 Nov 2023 Warrenton, VA The Thomas, Lord Culpeper Chapter of the Colonial Dames XVII Century met today at the Fauquier Club in Warrenton and CMM compatriot Bill Schwetke was the guest speaker. Bill talked on the "Origins of the SAR/DAR/C.A.R.". After the meeting the meeting moved to the basement of Denim and Pearls for lunch.
