Ten CMM members, five spouses and one distinguished guest gathered at Prince Michel Winery for our January Meeting and installation of our chapter officers for 2015. The distinguished guest was VASSAR 1st Vice-President Bill Broadus, who also swore in the new officers. This meeting also marked the first use of our new sound system which was donated by our good friend Jim Flannagan. The new sound system operates by power cord, or by batteries. This will allow us to use it at outdoor events where it will be most useful and power is hard to impossible to provide. All of the CMM wives, who have done so much to support us, were presented with unique Liberty Sprig broaches. Each broach is unique, designed and produced by Sammie Todd of Richmond, VA.

The Virginia Society presented the Gold Good Citizenship Medal to General Richard B. Myers, USAF (Ret.), 15th Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff at a gala at Belle Haven Country Club in Alexandria on January 11th. Proceeds from the event were donated to the USO, a cause that General Meyers strongly supports.
General Meyers was an Air Force Fighter pilot, combat veteran of Vietnam, and held many staff and command positions prior to becoming our nations highest ranking military officer. President Bill Schwetke and his wife, Cat, represented our chapter at this event. |
