The CMM teamed with the Fauquier Court House Chapter, DAR, to host a Genealogy Workshop this Saturday.  The Fauquier Court House Chapter has done this now for 18 years and the CMM have co-hosted for 9 years.  This year was a little dissapointing in that many registered attendees cancelled at the last minute and even more did not show - we had only 32 attendees.  Also several of the Workshop Staff dropped out at the last moment putting some strain on those who did the work.  Most of this was due to a rather severe strain of the cold that effected many in our area this past week.   Still, the Workshop was a great success for those that did attend.  We conducted nine high quality educational sessions.  These were organized so that each presentation was given four times to small groups that allowed interaction and questions.  One exception was Judge Jeanette Irby's presentation on Courthouse records that was presented during the free hot lunch.

     We also want to thank My Heritage for providing absolutely wonderful door prizes for our workshop.  There were many door prizes, but the best were the My Heritage subscriptions.

     Today the 242nd Anniversary of Victory at Yorktown was celebrated and the SAR showed up in style.  Charles Jameson presented the chapter wreath and marched with the Color Guard carrying the Culpeper Minute Battalion Flag.  Bill Schwetke and Mike Lyman also participated; Bill also marched with the Color Guard and carried the modern US Flag.

   The Fauquier Court House Chapter DAR and the CMM held their bi-annual, joint, New/Prospective Member Orientation at Warrenton Bible Fellowship this Thursday.  The three-hour program starts with joint interest items including a talk on the "Origins of the DAR, SAR and C.A.R." by Bill Schwetke.  After the joint sessions we split and the SAR program consisted of the New Compatriot Videos available on sar.org "e-training"  Three new DAR members and CMM prospective member Rex Hancock of Rixeyville attended.
