28 Apr 2023 Richmond, VA Today we marked the 265th birthday of James Monroe. The President of the United States was represented by the US Army Chief of Ordnance, Brigadier General Michael B. Lalor. The Virginia SAR was represented by CMM dual member President Ernie Coggins, and the CMM were represented by Bill Schwetke.
26 Apr 2023 Culpeper, VA Today the Culpeper 250 Committee met to plan the observance of the Founding of our Nation 250 years ago met in the Culpeper Economic Development Center. The CMM were represented by four members, Jim Bish, Patrick Edrington, Charles Jameson, and Bill Schwetke. Della Edrington represented the DAR.
23 Apr 2023 Culpeper, VA A large crowd, music, food & drink, & SAR programing, at Mountain Run Winery. The CMM once again set up a booth with information and the Color Guard fired a musket salute. Many thanks to our compatriots of the Col James Wood II Chapter for their support.
The Richmond Chapter, Virginia SAR's longest continually active chapter, celebrated their 100th Anniversary in Richmond today. Bill Schwetke represented the CMM and commanded the Color Guard at this event.
22 Apr 2023 Colonial Beach, VA Today at James Monroe's Birthplace the CMM participated in a ceremony to honor our 5th President's 265th birthday. The CMM was represented by Honorary President Charles Jameson; Mike Lyman and Bill Schwetke also attended and all three participated in the Color Guard.

15 Apr 2023 Syria, VA The Culpeper Minutemen Chapter, with the help of the members of eleven SAR and six DAR Chapters conducted a ceremony in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia to collect, then bless the soil of Virginia, that was then entrusted to Virginia SAR President Ernie Coggins to transport to the Waxhaws Battleground in South Carolina and spread on the mass grave of Virginia soldiers of the 3rd Detachment who died there. Culpeper Minutemen President Tom Hamill was the MC, Ken Bonner of the Sgt Maj John Champe Chapter commanded the Color Guard, Richard Taylor of the Col James Wood II Chapter shoveled the soil into the ceremonial urn, Chaplain Jim Simmons of the Col James Wood II Chapter blessed the soil, and President Coggins of the George Washington Chapter accepted the soil and pledged to spread it on the grave. The Color Guard carried the 13-star US Flag, the Virginia Flag, and the Virginia 3rd Detachment Flag. Over 60 people attended the ceremony.
15 Apr 2023 Syria, VA The CMM organized an hosted the multi-chapter meeting at Graves' Mountain Lodge again for the 28th year. This year fifty-nine compatriots and spouses from eleven SAR Chapters and six DAR Chapters attended. Ros Poplar, Vice-President of the Fort Harrison Chapter was our Master of Ceremonies. The keynote speaker was Virginia SAR President Ernie Coggins. The meeting was preceded by a ceremony to Gather & Bless Soil from Virginia to be spread on the mass grave of Virginia Patriots on the Waxhaws Battlefield in South Carolina on May 27th by President Coggins. After the meeting there was a Color Guard Workshop on musket firing. |
