Patriots of the Revolution Presentation to Pierce Elementary Fourth Grade

Today one CMM compatriot, four DAR members and one C.A.R. member (all the ladies are CMM compatriot family members) presented the stories of six people of the American Revolution to about ninety members of the Pierce Elementary Fourth Grade Class. The program was organized by Beverly Alexander of the Fauquier Court House Chapter, DAR.

This afternoon the Combined Culpeper Minutemen and Col James Wood, II, Chapters Color Guard presented the colors at the Rappahannock County Martin Luther King, Jr. Birthday Observance in the Little Washington Theatre in Washington, VA. Participating in the Color Guard were: Tom Hamill, Culpeper Minutemen President Charles Jameson, Col James Wood, II Vice President Marc Robinson, and Bill Schwetke.

239th Anniversary of the Battle of Cowpens

SAR Color Guard at the Washington's Light Infantry Monument.

This weekend the victory at the Battle of Cowpens was celebrated. The Virginia SAR contingent was led by 1st Vice President Bill Schwetke and included Brett Osborn of the Col James Wood, II Chapter and dual members Dan Woodruff, Warren Alter, and Bruce Pickette. The first event was a ceremony at General Morgan's statue in Spartenburg on Friday afternoon, then a wreath laying at the Visitor's Center at the Battlefield Park.

The CMM wreath was presented by past President Bill Schwetke, who also carried the Virginia Flag in the Color Guard.

At the 2020 Annual meeting the CMM Chapter installed its officers for 2020 and recognized outstanding contributions from 2019. The new officers, installed by Virginia SAR 1st Vice President Bill Schwetke, were:

Treasurer: Rich LePage

CMM Members Attend Meeting of the Massanutten Chapter, DAR

Today two members of the CMM attended the monthly meeting of the Massanutten Chapter, DAR in Harrisonburg: Larry Alexander and Bill Schwetke. Larry's wife, Beverly, was the keynote speaker.

Three members of the CMM attended the Fauquier Court House Chapter, DAR, Meeting today: President Tom Hamill, Aaron Hamill, and Bill Schwetke. The highlight of the meeting for the CMM was the induction of Leah Hamill into the DAR. She is the daughter of CMM President Tom Hamill and the sister of Aaron Hamill.

The program was a presentation on 18th Century clothing by Jane M. D. Pease and Dan McMahon.
