24 Feb 2024 Oak Grove, VA Today a large group of about 75 people gathered at Ingleside Winery to celebrate the 258th Anniversary of Leedstown Resolves. The CMM were represented by Len Cowherd, John Kuvakas, and Bill Schwetke. Bill presented the CMM wreath and commanded the Color Guard. All stayed for a lunch of fried chicken, green beans, mashed potatoes, corn bread, and fried oysters.

22 Feb 20214 Culpeper, VA Over the grave of General Edward Stevens, who served under General Washington, the CMM celebrated Washington's 292nd Birthday. Charles James organized the event, Tom Hamill was the Master of Ceremonies and eight DAR/SAR members gave talks on Washington's significance and aspects of his Farewell Speech. Overall eight CMM members participated including five who participated in the Color Guard. Four SAR chapters and one DAR chapter participated in the program. 22 Feb 2024 Winchester, VA Today, in Winchester, at the Headquarters used by a youthful surveyor, George Washington, we celebrated George Washington's 292nd Birthday. The CMM was represented by Michael Dennis, Charles Jameson, and Bill Schwetke. All three marched in the Color Guard and Charles Jameson presented the chapter wreath. 19 Feb 2022 Alexandria, VA This morning the SAR and DAR jointly saluted the Tomb of the Unknown Revolutionary War Soldier at the Old Presbyterian Meeting House in Old Town Alexandria. Bill Schwetke represented the Culpeper Minutemen Chapter, presented the chapter wreath, and commanded the Color Guard.
19 Feb 2024 Alexandria, VA Today the Virginia SAR Color Guard marched in a parade in Old Town Alexandria to celebrate George Washington's 292nd Birthday. Bill Schwetke represented the CMM and rode on the SAR Float.
18 Feb 2024 Hume, VA Today Charles Jameson presented a talk on "Forgotten Patriots" at Mount Morris Baptist Church in Hume as part of Black History Month. Charles has done an excellent job of reviving the memories of the many Black and Native American whose contributions were critical to our independence. We won't forget and we are passing these memories to all of our children. Well done Charles!
17 Feb 2024 South Boston, VA The usual very large crowd gathered at the Prizery in South Boston to celebrate General Greene's Army's narrow escape from Cornwallis by crossing the rain swollen river and depriving Cornwallis of the necissary boats to do the same.
10 Feb 2024 Richmond, VA The afternoon session of the Virginia SAR Annual Meeting was held Saturday in the Old Hall of the House of Delegates in the Capitol. During this session the best chapters in four chapter-size categories were announced. For the fourth straight year the Culpeper Minutemen Chapter was the best chapter for its size (40-99). Tom Hamill, who was the president for the past two years, accepted the award. Our past two presidents, Tom Hamill and Charles Jameson received this recognition for both years of their two-year terms. In July, at the National SAR Congress, the national winner for 2023 will be announced. The Culpeper Minutemen will be very competitive for that award. The chapter was best in the nation for 2021, was not eligible to win two years in a row in 2022, and waits to see the results for 2023.
03 Feb 2024 Rapidan, VA The Culpeper Minutemen Chapter with other Virginia SAR Chapters recognized the African American Patriots and American Indians, noted to be ⅕ of the total Continental Army who fought in the Revolutionary War. The Minutemen Chapters of the DAR and SAR recognized those known African Americans and American Indians from this area. This Commemoration was held on Sat. Feb. 3, 2024 at the Carver Center 9432 N. James Madison Hwy. Rapidan, Va. 22733. The Event was held in the Auditorium at the former 4 Va. County Segregated High School. The names of those who fought from this area were discussed with the thoughts of how many traveled those halls of the former George Washington Carver Regional High School without an inkling of their families past. We now know of many, but there are still many more to be found. The Carver 4 - County Museum was open for viewing.
