Gabriel was my grandfather's grandfather's father by adoption. Gabriel's brother was John Slaughter Long, who died in 1827. Gabriel adopted his brother's family which included John Slaughter Long who was 11 YOA. That John S. Long is buried near Paducah Ky. His brother, Nimrod, founded the Russellville KY Bank in 1858. In 1850 John Long had 6000 acres in McCracken Co. Ky. he died at the age of 44 of pneumonia. They were rich due to their friendship with George Washington.
