Today the Virginia SAR marked the grave of Francis Lightfoot Lee at his home, Mount Airy, near Warsaw, VA. The James Monroe Chapter was the host and their president, Charles Belfield, was the master of ceremonies. President Charles Jameson led our chapter participants and presented the chapter wreath. Four primary chapter members participated: President Charles Jameson, Tom Hamill, Mike Lyman, and Bill Schwetke, all of whom participated in the Color Guard. Bill Schwetke also participated in the musket salute.
Francis Lightfoot Lee signed the Leedstown Resolves, the Declaration of Independence, and the Articles of Confederation. He was a delegate to the First and Secnd Virginia Conventions and the First and Second Continental Congresses.
